Production at Cambay-73 is targeted to begin this summer

Oilex readies Cambay-73 for production

MUMBAI, June 8, 2015 – Australian exploration and production company Oilex has finished installing pipeline at its Cambay-73 production facilities in the Gujarat Basin in India. After commissioning is completed, the company expects to start production of between 50 and 60 barrels of oil equivalent per day of gas and condensate.

Condensate will be separated on site and be trucked to a nearby refinery.

“The commencement of gas production from the Cambay-73 facilities is a significant milestone for Oilex and marks the first step on the path to achieving positive cashflow from operations in India,” said the company’s managing director, Ron Miller.

The development is a fracked vertical well first drilled in 2008. A production test in 2012 produced a peak of 1 million cubic feet of gas per day. Nearby wells may be tied into the Cambay-73 facilities if they have surplus production.

Oilex seeks to restart gas production at the Cambay field this summer, having not produced gas there since the early 1990s.
