Oman free zone offers solar power option

SOHAR, February 6, 2020 – Oman’s Sohar Port and Freezone has announced it will give companies the option to invest in large-scale solar installations to save on power generation costs.

A company official said investors would also have the chance to save on natural gas by producing green hydrogen for their operations, Zawya quoted a port official as saying.

Oman has been stepping up its use of solar to support local industries, most famously in Petroleum Development Oman‘s 1-GW Miraah solar park, which is under construction, and the 1.1-GW Manah project, which is currently out to tender.
