Oman’s Manah II Solar IPP begins commercial operations
MUSCAT, May 5, 2025 – Sembcorp Utilities, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singaporean state-owned energy development company Sembcorp Industries, has launched commercial operations of the 588 MWp Manah II Solar IPP in Manah, Oman, the company announced on Sunday.
Sembcorp Utilities was awarded the build-own-operate project in March 2023 in an 80%-owned joint venture with Jinko Power Technology. The project is Sembcorp’s first greenfield renewables development in the Middle East and its largest utility-scale solar farm to date.
With the commencement of operations, Mana II will start supplying power to the Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, the single Buyer of power and water for all IPP and IWPP projects in Oman, under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
In Oman, Sembcorp also owns 40% of the Salalah IWPP, a gas-fired combined cycle power facility and a reverse osmosis seawater desalination facility in the Dhofar region. It is operated through Sembcorp Salalah O&M Services Company, which is 70% owned by Sembcorp Utilities and 30% owned by Oman Investment Corporation.
