Pacific in rebranding effort

TORONTO, June 13, 2017 – Canada’s Pacific Exploration & Production Company has decided to rebrand and change its name to Frontera Energy Company. Its shares will begin trading under the new banner this Wednesday, June 14.

In a press release issued late on Monday, Frontera said the name change ushers in a “new era” for the company.

“Our new corporate identity reflects the significant transformation the Company has made following its restructuring, as well as a new progressive and disciplined focus that will generate success,” Frontera CEO Barry Larson said.

“To ensure the Company can maintain sustainable production and growth, the Board has taken steps to narrow Frontera’s geographic focus and reduce organisational scale, complexity and cost while maximising operating and cost efficiencies,” he added.

The independent, the largest-such exploration and production player in Colombia, was known as Pacific Rubiales until 2015. The company also has interests in about 20 blocks split between Belize, Guatemala and Peru.
