2nd FLNG project off Equatorial Guinea closer

MALABO, May 30, 2017 – Schlumberger and Golar LNG, through their OneLNG joint venture company, have reportedly signed an agreement with the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons on a second floating LNG project off Equatorial Guinea.

Under the agreement, OneLNG will look into the liquefaction and commercialisation options for gas resources across the Noble Energy-held blocks O and I. OneLNG will allegedly also fund the technical and commercial feasibility study for the project, which, if it comes to fruitition, would be the second FLNG project off Equatorial Guinea.

Earlier this month, the parties involved in the Fortuna FLNG project signed the so-called umbrella agreement that puts in place the legal and fiscal framework for the venture.

Signed by the government of Equatorial Guinea, Ophir Energy, One LNG and GEPetrol, the agreement paves the way for the final investment decision on the project, which is expected by mid-2017.

Later in May, Ophir Energy announced the award of the midstream contracts for the Block R venture.

Keppel Shipyard won the primary contract to convert the 126,000-square-metre Gandria vessel. Black & Veatch’s Prico technology will be used, and the EPC company will also do detailed engineering and process design, procure topside equipment and assist with commissioning.

“The award of the midstream construction completes another milestone as we approach FID. We remain firmly on schedule for the FID of Africa’s first deepwater FLNG Project in mid-2017,“ Ophir CEO Nick Cooper said in a company press release.
