Pemex 2019 upstream plans announced

Pemex will triple the number of wells it drills in 2019 compared to 2018 to raise production by 300,000 bopd by 2022, company general director Octavio Romero Oropeza said during a news conference on Monday.

The NOC’s plans include a total of 506 wells in 20 fields and 13 platforms for 16 shallow-water projects. In addition, Pemex’s upstream development plans call for 27 new pipelines, 14 of which will be located offshore, to handle the expected production.

“In Petroleos Mexicanos’ [Pemex’s] entire history, it has perhaps never developed 20 new fields in one year,” Romero said, as cited by Reuters.

In other news for Mexico, officials have issued four invitations to bid for the construction of the USD 8-billion Dos Bocas refinery. Invitations were sent to KBR and Technip as well as two consortiums comprising WorleyParsons and Jacobs Engineering, and Bechtel and Techint.
