Pemex passes SABIC’s ethane contract to Vitol

Mexican NOC Pemex has transferred a long-term ethane delivery contract to Vitol after agreement negotiations with Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, known as SABIC, fell through, international media reported Thursday.

According to the contract, Vitol will now ship around 107,000-1240,00 boe of refrigerated ethane of at least 94% purity to the Pajaritos terminal, which recently retrofitted its five ethylene storage tanks for that purpose, a Pemex source told Platts.

Pemex expects a supply of 4.25 million boe of ethane in 2018 and up to 5.1 million boe a year by 2019.
