Perenco completes drilling campaign in Mexico

Perenco has completed an onshore drilling campaign to up oil production at the Santuario and El Golpe permit in Tabasco, Mexico, the UK-headquartered E&P company announced on Friday.

The campaign included the drilling of three production wells and three water-injection wells.

The first production well began producing around 2,300 bopd in April 2023. The second production well has reached an average production of 1,500 bopd. The third well has hit a production rate of 1,300 bopd, which is currently being ramped up.

Perenco Mexico has increased production at the field by almost 5,100 bopd with these new wells, with higher production rates expected in 2024.

Previously, Perenco increased production of seven existing wells on the Santuario Main and El Golpe fields by installing electric submersible pumps.

Since the company took up shares in the concession in 2018, it has increased production on the Santuario and El Golpe permit from 5,500 bopd to 17,000 bopd.
