Pertamina taps Halliburton for tech-led push in Indonesia’s onshore fields
JAKARTA, February 23, 2026 – Indonesia’s Pertamina has signed an MoU with US energy services company Halliburton to deploy advanced drilling and stimulation technologies across onshore fields in the country, the companies said on Sunday.
The collaboration will explore the use of multi-stage hydraulic fracturing, acid stimulation, advanced cementing and closed-loop automation with AI to boost drilling and production efficiency.
The MoU supports Pertamina’s strategy to increase national lifting and revitalise mature fields. It also extends Halliburton’s unconventional completions activities in Indonesia.
“Halliburton integrates proven unconventional methodologies with localized reservoir insights to improve performance,” Halliburton senior vice-president for the Asia-Pacific region Martin White said.
Pertamina is Indonesia’s state-owned energy company, active across upstream and downstream segments. It plays a key role in the country’s energy security, with a focus on enhancing production from mature fields and investing in technology-driven operations.
