Petrofac to carry out Oman gas project

MUSCAT, January 9, 2017 – Petrofac on Monday announced the award of a multi-million-dollar engineering, procurement and construction contract for a gas project in Oman.
Awarded by Oman Oil Facilities Development Company subsidiary Salalah LPG, the USD-600 million contract for the Salalah LPG extraction project has a duration of 36 months and will be executed on a lump sum basis. Petrofac will construct the plant’s LPG unit, tie-ins to existing pipeline infrastructure, storage facilities and jetties at the Port of Salalah.
“This project will further support our commitment to increase in-country value. We will continue to maintain strong focus on this aspect of our delivery, particularly by engaging the local supply chain and recruiting local resources,” group CEO Marwan Chedid said in a press release, adding that the award marked the company’s 11th contract in Oman since its market entry in 1988.
