About 800 protesters remained in the plant after taking it over Friday calling for employment opportunities and improved infrastructure.
SPDC said it was working to resume operations at the facility.
“People should express their grievances in a way that follows due process to avoid sending [the] wrong signal to potential investors about how businesses are treated in our society,” Igo Weli, SPDC’s general manager of external relations, told the media Monday.
The company had evacuated staff late Thursday, before protesters arrived. Although the army dispatched an additional 30 troops to the facility, soldiers and security guards allowed the demonstrators to enter.
