Qatargas awards $4.5-bln offshore EPFI contract

Saipem has signed a USD 4.5-billion contract with LNG giant Qatargas for engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of two offshore gas complexes in Qatar, the Italian contractor announced today.

Works comprise building the largest fixed steel jacket compression platforms ever made, which include flare platforms, interconnecting bridges, living modules and interface modules.

The two facilities will be located on the North Field off the north-east coast of Qatar and are part of QatarGas’ North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Complexes Project – EPC 2 development.

The contract is the largest single offshore contract in Saipem’s 65 years of doing business.

The award follows Saipem’s previous EPCI work with Qatargas on the North Field Expansion project that was secured in April 2021.
