Reliance signs $80-bln MoU with Indian government

Reliance Industries has signed an MoU with the government involving investments of USD 80 billion for development of low-carbon energy infrastructure in Gujarat, India, the Indian multinational conglomerate announced on Thursday.

The 10-to-15-year plan calls for construction of a 100-GW renewable energy power plant and development of a green hydrogen system.

Scouting for land for the renewable facility is underway in Kutch, Banaskantha and Dholera. The company has requested a site of 1,820 square kilometres.

Further investments will be made to set up integrated renewable manufacturing, consisting of solar modules, electrolysers, energy-storage batteries and fuel cells.

Additional investments will be made by the company to upgrade the Jio Network to 5G over five years.
