Repsol completes 188-MW wind farm in Chile

SANTIAGO, September 29, 2021 – Repsol and Ibereólica Renovables have completed construction of the Cabo Leones 3 wind farm in Atacama, Chile, the Spanish energy company announced on Tuesday.

 

The first phase completed in 2020 saw an initial capacity of 78.1 MW. The latest second phase involved installing an additional 22 wind turbines and upping production capacity to 188 MW.

Repsol also disclosed that the two companies finalised a long-term financing plan for the asset worth USD 209 million from international financial institutions.

The partners intend to ramp up the use of solar and wind energy in Chile, with aims to have a 1.6-GW capacity from renewables by 2023 and the possibility for 2.6 GW by 2030.
