Republic of Congo fields change owners

BRAZZAVILLE , December 13, 2016 – The Tchibouela, Tchendo and Tchibeli-Litanzi mature fields have changed hands, local media reported on Tuesday. Perenco will acquire Total’s 40% stake and operatorship in the fields, while Hemla Group, partnered with Petromal, will buy Eni’s 20% share.

In accordance with the Republic of Congo’s recently adopted Hydrocarbons Code, the trio will operate the fields alongside two well-connected local companies, Petro Congo and Kontinent Congo.

The Tchibouela, Tchendo and Tchibeli-Litanzi fields have reserves estimated at 50 million barrels and are currently pumping 17,000 bopd. As the new operator, Perenco plans to increase production to 20,000 bopd.
