Russia, Iran expand gas co-operation

MOSCOW, November 6, 2017 – Gazprom signed an MoU on strategic co-operation with the Iranian Oil Ministry, the company announced on Friday.

 

They will investigate options for joint gasfield development, gas transport, gas sales, gas liquefaction and gas-to-chemicals production. Gazprom also signed two MoUs with National Iranian Oil Company, one to develop a unified natural gas extraction and transportation system in the country and another to perform the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline feasibility study together.

“Today, a big step has been taken in the development of the Russian-Iranian partnership in the gas sector,” said Vitali Markelov, deputy head of Gazprom, in a press statement.

Additionally, an agreement with the Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran aims to promote co-operation on gas liquefaction projects in third countries as well as deep processing and gas-to-chemicals production in Iran.
