Saipem in Oman refinery deal

Saipem has received a USD 750-million EPC contract to work on the Duqm refinery in Oman, the Italian EPC firm announced on Thursday.

“We welcome with particular satisfaction the awarding of this new contract which signals the relaunch of our activities in Oman, a country in which Saipem has operated successfully in the past,” Saipem CEO Stefano Cao said in a statement.

The refinery, a 50/50 JV between Kuwait Petroleum International and Oman Oil Company, is expected to come on stream in 2020 with a capacity of 230,000 bpd.
