ABERDEEN, August 9, 2021 – Scotland has allocated funds to support the UK’s oil and gas industry in helping to reach the nation’s target of net zero carbon emissions by 2045, a government official confirmed on Friday.

Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) was awarded USD 22.9 million for seven projects by Scotland’s Energy Transition Fund. NZTC will also receive public funds with total investments of around USD 47 million.

The initiatives are expected to inject USD 559 billion into the country’s economy and create 21,000 jobs by 2050.

“This is an important milestone for the Net Zero Technology Centre which will drive the development of key technologies for green growth in Scotland and the UK, create jobs, attract investment and help establish a world-class net zero supply chain,” said Colette Cohen, CEO of NZTC.
