Services firms tap Indonesia opportunities

German heavy lift and project cargo company Hansa Heavy Lift on Tuesday announced the completion of an equipment transport job for Eni’s Jangkrik Complex project.

Under the scope of the contract, the Hamburg-based entity moved 24 reels and various items of subsea equipment, such as risers and static umbilicals, for Technip.

The cargo was moved to Indonesia using the HHL Richards Bay vessel from ports in the UK, France and Malaysia. At Indonesia’s Balikpan, the load discharged onto the Viking Neptune, Seismic Supporter and Deep Orient vessels.

The Jangkrik Complex project is expected to reach first gas in June. A naming naming ceremony for the Jangkrik floating production unit was held in March, marking the start of the vessel’s journey to the Eni-operated Muara Bakau PSC area.

Last week, Saipem selected contractor McConnel Dowell construction work associated with the Tangguh LNG expansion project. The agreement covers the bulk offloading facility and the LNG and condensate loading jetty 2.

The offloading facility will feature two 80-metre piers and 60 metres of quay well. McConnel Dowell will also install a floating pontoon and the necessary marine items such as bollards and ladders.

The scope LNG and condensate loading jetty construction covers more elaborate work, including design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning. The effort will see McConnel Dowell prepare shoreline rock protection, construct the loading platform and impounding basin, as well as install six mooring and 4 berthing dolphins.

In an April 5 press release, the company said work would last until early 2019.

In July 2016, BP signed off on the final investment decision on the Tangguh expansion project that will see the addition of a third LNG train and raising capacity to 11.4 million tonnes of LNG per year.
