Wentworth reports East Africa updates

Listed independent Wentworth Resources on Monday sent out an update regarding its operations in Tanzania and Mozambique.

The company communicated its first-quarter Tanzania production at 1.22 mcm (43 mcf) of natural gas per day, with payment collection from Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation and Tanzania Electric Supply Company ongoing.

“”We are pleased to see gas demand stabilizing in Tanzania and that Mnazi Bay gas is now being delivered to a new industrial customer, with more customers expected to follow. Together with our development partners, the Company is also currently developing and pursuing opportunities to increase the current demand for the Mnazi Bay gas,” Managing Director Geoff Bury said.

In reference to Mozambique, Wentworth reported that it had completed the reprocessing of some 1,000 kilometres of seismic, with interpretation all but finalised. Well results from the Tembo-1 discovery have also been analysed.

The company is now looking to bring on board a partner for joint appraisal drilling through a farm-out process.

“In Mozambique, the completion of the reprocessing of the seismic and interpretation of the results confirms our belief in the potential of the Tembo gas discovery and we are very excited about being able to advance this world class discovery through securing an industry partner,” Bury also said in Monday’s release.

In the second half of 2017, Wentworth will acquire a minimum of 500 kilometres of new onshore 2D seismic data. Speaking to TOGY in late 2016, Bury said that the drilling of the appraisal well will start in the second half of 2018 after the seismic data is processed and the drilling location is identified. The appraisal programme is to be completed by the end of 2018.
