Shell and TotalEnergies join Oman’s Block 11

TotalEnergies and Shell have signed an exploration and production sharing agreement with the government of Oman to explore onshore Block 11, the French super-major announced on Friday.

Shell will operate the development with a 67.5% stake along with partners TotalEnergies with a 22.5% stake and NOC <a href=’https://theenergyyear.com/companies-institutions/oq/’>OQ with the remaining 10% shares.

Seismic works are set to begin in late 2022, with drilling operations planned for 2023.

The move adds to TotalEnergies’ entry into the country’s Block 10 gas concession in December 2022 and construction of a 17-MW solar system in July 2022 for an Omani desalination plant.
