South Bow secures commitments for Canada-US pipeline

CALGARY, June 1, 2026 – Canadian pipeline company South Bow has secured 20-year binding commitments for the transportation of crude oil via its proposed Prairie Connector pipeline project in Canada, the company announced on Friday.
The commitments are for transportation of crude from Hardisty, Alberta, to US delivery points, and were secured during the company’s open season, which closed on March 30, 2026. With the deals in place, South Bow said it will focus on obtaining the remaining permits for the project, securing government assurances and arranging financing to meet its 2027 FID target.
If approved, the Prairie Connector project will run from Hardisty to the Canada-US border, connecting with Bridger Pipeline’s downstream network. The development includes approximately 380 kilometres of new 36-inch pipeline, around 150 kilometres of previously installed and preserved 36-inch pipeline and two pump stations.
“Achieving strong commercial support in the open season marks another critical milestone for our proposed Prairie Connector project and underscores the ongoing need for market access for Western Canadian crude oil to key demand and refining markets,” said South Bow CEO Bevin Wirzba.
South Bow operates 4,900 kilometres of crude oil pipeline infrastructure linking Alberta crude supplies with refining markets in Illinois, Oklahoma and the US Gulf. Headquartered in Calgary, the company is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.
