Subsea 7 hits BP jackpot in Egypt

Specialised engineering, construction and services company Subsea 7 announced a major contract award on Thursday that will see the company assist BP and partner DEA of Germany in the development the West Nile Delta phase two project.

Valued at more than USD 750 million, the deal entails engineering, procurement, installation and pre-commissioning of subsea infrastructure in 800 m of water for 12 wells in the offshore Giza, Fayoum and Raven fields. The scope of the work also includes 220 km of pipelines, 80 km of umbilical lines and export lines to the Idku terminal.

Work on landfall pipeline sections will commence in 2017, followed by subsea installation of equipment one year later. For the project in its entirely, Subsea 7 will deploy three vessels, Seven Borealis, Seven Antares and Normand Oceanic, with the latter to be used solely for subsea work.
