Technip Energies signs deal for US hydrogen project

BAYTOWN, January 31, 2023 – Technip Energies has signed a contract with ExxonMobil for FEED works at the energy giant’s hydrogen project in Baytown, Texas, the French engineering and technology entity announced on Tuesday.

The integrated facility will have the capacity to produce 1 bcf of hydrogen per day and capture more than 98% or 7 million tonnes per year of carbon dioxide emissions.

 

The project will see emissions reduced by 30% at the Baytown refinery.

ExxonMobil is expected to complete its FID on the development in 2024, with startup planned in 2027 or 2028.

Upon completion, the Baytown facility will be considered the world’s largest low-carbon hydrogen project.

Cost of the contract was not disclosed.
