TechnipFMC takes on work at Angola’s Girassol field

LUANDA, August 24, 2023 – TechnipFMC has been chosen by French energy giant TotalEnergies to provide more subsea work on its life extension project at the Girassol field offshore Angola, the London-based technology provider announced on Wednesday.

The scope of the contract includes installation of flexible pipe and associated subsea structures for the project.

The contract is valued at between USD 75 million and USD 250 million.

In February 2023, TechnipFMC signed a similarly valued contract to provide engineering, procurement and supply of flowlines and connectors for the same project.

The offshore field is located on Block 17, which is operated by TotalEnergies EP Angola with a 38% stake.

Partners on the project are Equinor with a 22.16% stake, ExxonMobil with a 19% stake, BP with a 15.84% stake and Sonangol with the remaining 5% stake.

The play was discovered in 1996 and was the site of TotalEnergies’ first FPSO in Angola.

“The seamless integration of engineering, manufacturing and installation provides our clients with the flexibility and agility they need to meet their project goals,” said Jonathan Landes, president of subsea operations of TechnipFMC.

“We have good knowledge of this field, having built the subsea tree systems for the original Girassol development.”
