Twenty-nine international companies have received invitations to tender for work to be carried out in the oilfield, which is located in Iran’s southwest along its border with Iraq. Among the companies mentioned were Shell, Total, CNPC, Sinioc, Lukoil, Pertamina and OMV.

In August 2016, Kardor announced the Iran Petroleum Contract as the new model to be followed in future tenders for Iran’s large oilfields.
