Tethys’ Kazakhstan wells test positive for gas

Kazakhstan
On Wednesday, July 2, Tethys Petroleum announced positive test results from its shallow gas exploration wells AKK17, AKK18, AKK19 and AKK20. The Akkulka fields in the Tasaran horizon of Western Kazakhstan will increase gas production for the UK-headquartered company by three fold in 2015.

Chief Operating Officer Graham Wall said he was pleased by the latest results, adding that further wells will be drilled and pipelines laid to maintain the production rate and transit the sweet natural gas to consumers.

Tethys Petroleum’s strategy in Kazakhstan is to enhance production and begin selling into the Kazakhstan-China pipeline by the end of 2014.
