The facilities will be located around 30 kilometres from the shore and have a combined capacity of around 2 GW.
The agreement involves an asset off the coast of Civitavecchia with a capacity of up to 540 MW and two windfarms off the coast of Olbia in Sardinia with capacities of 500 MW and 1 GW.
Commercial operations are expected to begin between 2028 and 2031.
The wind farms are being developed with Italian energy companies NiceTechnology and 7 Seas Wind Power.
The projects will bring the consortium’s offshore wind portfolio to around 3 GW, with annual production of around 7 TWh of renewable energy.
