Three floating wind projects planned in Italy

Italy
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has teamed up with Eni-led Plenitude and CDP Equity to develop three floating offshore wind projects in Italy, the Danish infrastructure fund manager announced on Wednesday.

The facilities will be located around 30 kilometres from the shore and have a combined capacity of around 2 GW.

The agreement involves an asset off the coast of Civitavecchia with a capacity of up to 540 MW and two windfarms off the coast of Olbia in Sardinia with capacities of 500 MW and 1 GW.

Commercial operations are expected to begin between 2028 and 2031.

The wind farms are being developed with Italian energy companies NiceTechnology and 7 Seas Wind Power.

The projects will bring the consortium’s offshore wind portfolio to around 3 GW, with annual production of around 7 TWh of renewable energy.
