Total and Pertamina in LNG trade

Total has signed a long-term sale and purchase deal for LNG with Indonesia’s state-owned energy company Pertamina, the French energy giant announced on Tuesday.

Beginning in 2020, Pertamina will supply Total with 400,000 tonnes of its contracted LNG from the Corpus Christi LNG project, currently under construction by US energy company Cheniere Energy. Total will then supply Pertamina with volumes increasing from 400,000 tonnes to 1 million tonnes of LNG per year for 15 years, also beginning in 2020, from its global assets.

“Strengthening our presence in Asia, in particular through innovative relationships with new LNG buyers such as Pertamina, is an important part of our strategy,” Total’s president of gas, Laurent Vivier, said in a press release Tuesday.

The Corpus Christi liquefaction project will have a capacity of 13.5 million tonnes of per year of LNG through three trains. The site sits on the La Quinta Channel on the northeast side of Corpus Christi Bay in Texas. The project is expected to come on line in 2018.
