TotalEnergies acquires power generation facilities in Texas

HOUSTON, November 13, 2023 – TotalEnergies has acquired three gas-fired power generation facilities in Texas, USA, with a combined capacity of 1.5 GW for USD 635 million from TexGen, the French energy giant announced on Monday.

The acquisition includes the 745-MW Wolf Hallow I plant located on the outskirts of Dallas, the 530-MW Colorado Bend I plant located south of Houston and the 150-MW La Porte facility located southeast of Houston.

 

All facilities are connected to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, the second largest power market in the USA.

The power generation capacity will add to TotalEnergies’ current 2 GW capacity of installed renewable capacity in the state of Texas.

A further 2 GW of renewable capacity is currently under construction by the company, with an additional more than 3 GW under development in the state.

TotalEnergies aims to have 100 GW of renewable power generation capacity worldwide by 2030.
