TotalEnergies selects Shearwater for Angola survey
BERGEN, October 10, 2024 – TotalEnergies has selected Norwegian marine geoscience company and offshore data specialist Shearwater Geoservices to conduct an ocean bottom node (OBN) survey in two fields offshore Angola, Shearwater announced on Wednesday.
The deepwater OBN survey will target the Louro and Mostarda fields in Block 32, where Shearwater previously completed a 4D streamer survey for TotalEnergies. The survey is expected to start in January 2025 and take approximately two months and a half to complete.
Shearwater will deploy the SW Tasman seismic node laying vessel for the operation, with the SW Gallien working as a source vessel. The company also noted it would utilise its Pearl node for the project.
“We are very satisfied with the performance of our SW Tasman/Pearl OBN platform which has been in continuous operation since its introduction last year. We are pleased to see one more key client use this unique platform to introduce deepwater OBN to new areas of their operations,” said Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater.
TotalEnergies has a 30% stake in and is the operator of Block 32, which holds oil deposits across the Canela, Caril, Gengibre, Gindungo, Mostarda and Louro fields. The fields are connected via subsea pipeline to the Kaombo Norte and Kaombo Sul FPSO vessels.
