TotalEnergies takes operatorship of new Namibian offshore block
WINDHOEK, February 6, 2026 – TotalEnergies will acquire a 42.5% operated interest in a Namibian offshore exploration licence in the Lüderitz Basin, the company said on Friday.
The French energy giant will operate the PEL 104 licence after acquiring stakes from Eight Offshore Investments Holdings and Maravilla Oil & Gas. Petrobras will also hold 42.5%, while NAMCOR and Eight retain 10% and 5%, respectively.
The offshore block spans around 11,000 kilometres and follows TotalEnergies’ acquisition of a 40% operated stake in PEL 83 in December 2025.
“While progressing towards the development of Venus and Mopane discoveries, we are very pleased to expand our portfolio and continue exploring the prolific resources of Namibia,” TotalEnergies president of exploration and production Nicolas Terraz said.
The deal remains subject to government and joint venture partner approvals.
TotalEnergies has been active in Namibia since 1964 and operates 43 service stations. It is pursuing low-carbon development in the country, in line with its multi-energy strategy.
