The agreement, which aims to evolve into a hydrocarbon contract, outlines a work program for the development of gas resources in northeast Timimoun in synergy with existing production facilities in the Timimoun field, with a view to reducing costs and emissions.
Earlier this year, the companies had agreed to extend an existing LNG supply contract, with renewal terms calling for Sonatrach to deliver 2 million tonnes of LNG to TotalEnergies in 2025 at the port of Fos-Cavaou, near Marseille.
The companies also have a standing agreement to co-operate on renewables projects in Algeria such as the solarization of exploration and production sites and the development of facilities to produce low-carbon hydrogen for export.
