TotalEnergies to supply solar power to Google data centres in USA
MONTPELIER, November 12, 2025 – TotalEnergies has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement to supply Google with renewable electricity for its data centres in the USA, the company said on Wednesday.
The 1.5 TWh of certified solar power will come from TotalEnergies’ Montpelier solar farm in Ohio, which is nearing completion and connected to the PJM grid. The facility will support Google’s operations in the state as part of the tech company’s strategy to power its sites with carbon-free energy.
“Strengthening the grid by deploying more reliable and clean energy is crucial for supporting the digital infrastructure that businesses and individuals depend on,” Google director of clean energy and power Will Conkling said.
“This agreement illustrates TotalEnergies’s ability to meet the growing energy demands of major tech companies by leveraging its integrated portfolio of renewable and flexible assets,” TotalEnergies president gas, renewables and power Stéphane Michel said.
TotalEnergies is developing a 10-GW portfolio of renewable and storage assets in the United States, including 1 GW in the PJM market and 4 GW in ERCOT in Texas. The company has similar supply agreements with Amazon, Microsoft, Air Liquide and others.
TotalEnergies operates a diverse portfolio of energy assets in the USA, including solar, wind and battery storage. Its American operations are part of a broader global strategy to reach net zero by 2050 and achieve 12% profitability in the power sector.
