Trinidad signals 8-block E&P bid round

Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries announced it is launching a bid round for E&P operations at eight blocks, international media reported Thursday.

In phase one of the bid round, the ministry will auction six shallow-water blocks. Block 1b is located off the country’s west coast; blocks 4c, Uc and Lower Reverse L are situated off the east coast; and North Coast Marine Areas 2 and 3 are off the north coast.

The ministry will tender Charuma A and B, in the centre of the country, in phase two of the bid round.

Significant interest in the gas-prone blocks is expected. The ministry has yet to release the date of the round, but says it will take place in 2018.
