Brazil’s Petrobras loses labour case
Brazil The NOC plans to appeal the decision of the Superior Labour Court to Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court, Reuters reported. If it loses the case, Petrobras could be made to pay around BRL 17 billion (USD 4.5 billion) in wage increases to 59,000 workers.
Petrobras was sued by a group of oil workers arguing that a flaw in the way the company determines base salaries under its Minimum Level and Regime Remuneration scheme has led to lower payments since 2007. The Superior Labour Court ruled 13-12 that special work arrangements including night shifts should be paid for separately.
