UAE’s Mubadala Energy makes major gas find off Indonesia

JAKARTA, May 14, 2024 – Mubadala Energy has made a major deepwater gas find off Indonesia with a potential of at least 56.7 bcm (2 tcf) of gas in place, the UAE player announced on Monday.

The discovery took place at the ultra-deepwater Tangkulo-1 well in Mubadala’s operated South Andaman Gross Split PSC, situated around 65 kilometres offshore North Sumatra.

The exploration well was drilled to a depth of 3,400 metres from a water depth of 1,200 metres and encountered 80 metres of gas column.

The find was announced just months after the company made a major discovery at the Layaran-1 well, also in South Andaman.
