Uganda swears in new energy minister

KAMPALA, June 22, 2021 – Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu was sworn in as Uganda’s minister of energy and mineral development on Monday, replacing Dr. Mary Goretti Kitutu.

Appointed to her new post by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in a post-election Cabinet reshuffle, Minister Nankabirwa, formerly the chief government whip, will oversee a burgeoning East African oil market.

Uganda’s oil and gas scene is set for dynamic growth following April’s signing of accords to develop the Lake Albert oil projects and build the East African Crude Oil Pipeline.
