USA: Monkey Island LNG selects ConocoPhillips tech for 26-million-tpy project

BATON ROUGE, September 5, 2025 – Monkey Island LNG has chosen ConocoPhillips’ Optimized Cascade process technology for its planned 26-million-tonne-per-year LNG export terminal in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, the LNG player said on Thursday.

Monkey Island LNG CEO Greg Michaels said the selection followed extensive analysis of multiple technologies, adding, “The ConocoPhillips Optimized Cascade Process will enable Monkey Island LNG to provide customers with long-term, secure and competitively priced LNG supply.”

ConocoPhillips LNG technology and licensing head Darren Meznarich said the company would provide its new mega-module template, designed to reduce costs, plot size and project risks.

The 1-square-kilometre site on Monkey Island will benefit from deepwater shipping access and abundant US gas supply, with the project framed as part of the company’s “TrueCost LNG” model to offer transparent, cost-efficient supply.

Monkey Island LNG is a private developer focused on addressing global LNG demand through US infrastructure. Its flagship project in Cameron Parish is supported by ConocoPhillips liquefaction technology, a competitive commercial structure and an industry-proven EPC contractor.

ConocoPhillips is one of the world’s largest exploration and production companies, with a portfolio spanning oil and gas operations globally. In the US, it is a major LNG technology provider, licensing its Optimized Cascade process to support export capacity expansions.
