Vallourec wins Angola OCTG contract from TotalEnergies
LUANDA, July 11, 2024 – Vallourec has been awarded a contract by TotalEnergies in Angola for the supply of OCTG solutions for the Kaminho deepwater project, the tubular solutions provider said on Thursday.
The company will supply almost 5,000 tonnes of OCTG solutions and associated services for the project, a key development for TotalEnergies Angola in 2024.
In May, TotalEnergies announced it had reached the final investment decision on Kaminho. The company operates Block 20/11 with a 40% interest, alongside Petronas (40%) and Sonangol (20%).
The project involves the development of the Cameia and Golfinho fields, located around 100 kilometres off the Angolan coast in the Kwanza Basin. For production, a VLCC will be converted into an FPSO unit.
Production is expected to commence in 2028, with a plateau of 70,000 bopd.
The Kaminho project is noted for its low environmental impact. Its anticipated carbon intensity is only 16 kilograms of CO2e per boe.
Vallourec will deploy its environmentally friendly CLEANWELL coating, which is dope-free.
Earlier this year, Martin Deffontaines, country chair and managing director of TotalEnergies Angola, told The Energy Year that the FPSO “sets new standards in terms of energy efficiency.”
“The Kaminho development represents a new technological era,” he said.
