Vår Energi strikes gas-condensate in Norwegian Sea

STAVANGER, July 21, 2025 – Vår Energi has made a commercial gas and condensate discovery in the Vidsyn exploration well near the Fenja field in the Norwegian Sea, the company said on Monday.

The Vidsyn ridge discovery holds 25 million-40 million boe of recoverable resources and may hold up to 100 million barrels gross. The company will consider tying the find into the nearby Fenja subsea infrastructure.

The well encountered a high-quality reservoir with more than 200 metres of hydrocarbon column, located just eight kilometres from the Fenja field and its link to the Njord host facility.

“This is an exciting discovery unlocking a much larger potential along the ridge,” Vår Energi senior vice-president for exploration Luca Dragonetti said.

The licence is operated by Vår Energi (75%) with partners DNO Norge (7.5%) and Sval Energi (17.5%).
