Velesto wins Shell deepwater contracts in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, March 4, 2026 – Velesto Energy has secured two contracts from Sabah Shell Petroleum (SSPC) to provide maintenance services for deepwater infrastructure offshore Malaysia, Velesto announced on Wednesday.
The multi-year contracts cover comprehensive maintenance services for top tension risers at the Malikai tension-leg platform offshore Sabah and will be delivered by Velesto Workover in partnership with INVX Asia Pacific.
The Malikai platform is located about 100 kilometres offshore in the South China Sea in water depths of about 500 metres. It is Shell’s second deepwater project in Malaysia, after the semi-submersible floating production system at the Gumusut-Kakap development, and Malaysia’s first tension-leg platform.
“We thank SSPC for their continued trust in Velesto. These projects help support the group’s long-term resilience by diversifying into a broader range of services,” said Velesto president Megat Zariman Abdul Rahim.
Headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Velesto Energy is an offshore oilfield services provider. The company owns a fleet of jackup rigs and hydraulic workover units, and offers inspection and repair services for oil country tubular goods for customers across Southeast Asia.
