Wison New Energies joins Suriname FLNG project
PARAMARIBO, April 28, 2025 – China’s Wison New Energies has signed on to provide a detailed feasibility study for a newbuild FLNG facility at Suriname’s Offshore Block 52, the company said on Friday.
The block was exited by ExxonMobil late last year. Today, Petronas is the operator and sole owner.
Located approximately 120 kilometres off Suriname’s coast in water depths of around 450 metres, the FLNG facility will process feed gas from the subsea production system to produce LNG and condensate products for both domestic use and export to the international market. WNE secured the contract by leveraging its experience across the full FLNG project chain, from conceptual design to EPCIC delivery, and by offering highly efficient pre-engineered FLNG solutions tailored to client needs.
The detailed feasibility study is expected to serve as the basis for a future FEED study, aiming to support Suriname’s energy independence and bolster global clean energy supply chains.
“We are deeply honoured to be awarded on this transformative project,” senior vice-president An Wenxin said. “Drawing on our technical expertise and global FLNG track record, we are committed to providing Suriname with an efficient, sustainable, and integrated energy development pathway.”
WNE reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable innovation, aiming to meet diverse market demands with environmentally friendly floating LNG solutions.
Headquartered in Shanghai, China, WNE operates globally with a strong focus on floating energy infrastructure, offering integrated services spanning conceptual design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning. The company provides advanced solutions for LNG, LPG, NGL, ammonia and hydrogen projects, supporting clients across the full energy value chain with efficient and sustainable technologies.
