USA

CHEYENNE, October 20, 2015 – UK energy services firm Wood Group PSN has been awarded a one-year contract by US gas production company Carbon Creek Energy. The $31-million deal will see Wood Group provide operations management services to Carbon Creek’s coal bed methane field in the US’ Powder River Basin, located in Wyoming.

As a result of Wood Group winning the contract, 65 new positions have been created for the project. Wood Group has had 12 years of experience working in the coal bed methane sector.

Carbon Creek’s coal bed methane field produces natural gas at a rate of about 11.3 mcm (400 mcf) per day from about 6,800 wells. According to a Wood Group statement, the field also contains 6,000-12,000 drillable locations.

“The management of services in unconventional oil and gas basins, including the coal bed methane market, presents a significant growth opportunity for us,” Wood Group president John Glithero said in a company statement.
