Woodside secures gas supply from BP for Louisiana LNG
PERTH, April 30, 2025 – Woodside has signed an agreement under which BP will supply feedgas to the Louisiana LNG project, Woodside announced on Wednesday.
Per the agreement, Louisiana LNG Gas Management LLC (GasCo), a wholly owned subsidiary of Louisiana LNG, will purchase up to 18.1 bcm (640 bcf) of gas from BP beginning in 2029. Going forward, GasCo will be the entity in charge of implementing the gas sourcing strategy for Louisiana LNG.
Woodside announced it had reached a positive FID to develop Louisiana LNG on April 29, 2025. The agreement represents the first step in the establishment of a diversified portfolio of gas supply contracts to support the project, which is expected to come on line in 2029. In its first stage of development, the facility will have three liquefaction trains with a combined capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per year.
“Securing this gas supply agreement is an important step for the project. Woodside has a long history of successful collaboration with bp. By drawing upon bp’s experience with MiQ certificates, we can access verifiably low methane intensity molecules for the Louisiana LNG project,” said Woodside CEO Meg O’Neill.
