Petrobras starts up key FPSO on the Campos basin

BRASíLIA, May 9, 2023 – Petrobras’ Anna Nery FPSO has begun production at the Marlim and Voador offshore fields on the Campos Basin in Brazil, the Brazilian NOC announced on Monday.

The 27,000-tonne Anna Nery has the capacity to produce 70,000 bopd and 4 mcm (141,000 cubic feet) of gas per day.

The asset is anchored in water depths of 927 metres and connected to 32 wells, with peak production expected in 2025.

The FPSO was built by Malaysian offshore engineering entity Yinson Holdings, who celebrated its naming ceremony in June 2022.

The revitalisation of the Marlim and Voador fields also involves a second FPSO, the Anita Garibaldi, which together with the Anna Nery will raise production from the fields to an average of 150,000 boepd.

The second FPSO has set sail, with production expected to begin in the coming weeks.

According to Petrobras, production from the Campos basin is currently around 560,000 boepd, with plans to up production to 900,000 boepd by 2027.

“This is the largest project in the world in the recovery of mature assets in the offshore industry,” said Jean Paul Prates, CEO of Petrobras.
