QatarEnergy inks LNG partnership and offtake deal
DOHA, June 6, 2024 – QatarEnergy has entered into a partnership agreement with CPC Corporation, Taiwan (CPC) for the North Field East (NFE) LNG expansion project in Qatar, QatarEnergy announced on Wednesday.
Under the agreement, QatarEnergy will transfer to CPC a 5% interest in the equivalent of one NFE train with a capacity of 8 million tpy. CPC’s entry into the project does not affect the participating interests of the other shareholders.
In addition, the two parties have signed a sales and purchase agreement for the delivery of 4 million tpy of LNG from the NFE project to CPC over a period of 27 years.
“We look forward to further enhancing our relationship with CPC, which extends for over three decades, and to further demonstrate our unwavering commitment to our customers and partners around the world,” said H.E. Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs.
Located off the northeast shore of the Qatar peninsula, the NFE project is part of the overall North Field LNG expansion program that also includes the North Field South and North Field West projects. Together, they are expected to raise Qatar’s LNG production capacity from the current 77 million tpy to 142 million tpy by 2030.
