TotalEnergies makes gas condensate find off Denmark

ESBJERG, October 29, 2024 – TotalEnergies has discovered new gas condensate resources at a field in the Danish North Sea, the company announced on Tuesday.

The Harald field’s Harald East Middle Jurassic nearby exploration well (HEMJ-1X) encountered 48 metres of net gas condensate pay in a good quality reservoir.

The Harald field, in production since the late 1990s, is being developed by the Danish Underground Consortium venture led by TotalEnergies, with a 43.2% working interest, working alongside partners BlueNord (36.8%) and Nordsøfonden (20%).

The new well will be immediately connected to the Harald platform and is expected to start producing before the end of the year through the existing Harald and Tyra facilities, TotalEnergies said.

“The success of the Harald East Middle Jurassic well, nearby our Harald facilities in Denmark, demonstrates the strength of our exploration strategy,” TotalEnergies senior vice-president for exploration Kevin McLachlan said.

“This additional discovery at the Harald field will contribute to Danish energy supply by boosting our existing production in the North Sea in line with the Danish National Compromise.”

Oslo-listed BlueNord focuses on offshore oil and gas development. Nordsøfonden is a Danish state-owned company responsible for exploiting the country’s subsurface resources.
