TotalEnergies, Aljomaih awarded 400-MW solar project in Saudi Arabia
AS SUFUN, October 28, 2025 – TotalEnergies and Aljomaih Energy & Water have been awarded a licence to develop a 400-MW solar project in Saudi Arabia’s Hail region, the French energy giant said on Tuesday.
The project was granted by the Saudi Power Procurement Company under Round 6 of the National Renewable Energy Program. Electricity will be sold through a 25-year power purchase agreement, with grid connection expected in 2027.
The solar plant will supply energy to more than 68,400 households and supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 target of generating up to 50% of its power from renewables by 2030.
“This project marks the second success for our consortium in the Saudi National Renewable Energy Program,” TotalEnergies senior vice-president renewables Olivier Jouny said.
“This milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the Saudi Green Initiative,” Aljomaih Energy and Water chairman Ibrahim Aljomaih said.
TotalEnergies currently operates the 119-MW Wadi Al Dawasir solar plant and is building the 300-MW Rabigh 2 project in Saudi Arabia. The company’s renewable electricity portfolio totalled over 30 GW of gross capacity as of mid-2025, with plans to reach 35 GW by year-end and 100 TWh of production by 2030.
Aljomaih Energy and Water, based in Riyadh, is a key developer in Saudi Arabia’s power and water sectors, specialising in renewable and independent power projects.
