Shell selects Halliburton for HI gas development offshore Nigeria
LAGOS, November 6, 2025 – Halliburton has been awarded an integrated drilling and completion services contract by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) and partner Sunlink Energies for the HI gasfield development in OML 144 offshore Nigeria, Halliburton announced on Wednesday.
The announcement of the contract award follows Shell’s positive FID on the HI gas development, which is projected to produce 9.9 mcm (350 mcf) of feed gas per day at peak for the onshore Nigeria LNG (NLNG) facility.
“This contract reflects our dedication to delivering integrated solutions that improve performance and efficiency in complex offshore environments. Our collaboration with SNEPCo and Sunlink Energies advances the HI gasfield and contributes to the future of the energy industry in Nigeria,” said Halliburton’s president, Eastern Hemisphere, Shannon Slocum.
The HI gasfield is located approximately 50 kilometres offshore in water depths of around 100 metres and is estimated to hold 285 million boe in recoverable resources. It is being developed as a joint venture between SNEPCo (40%) and Sunlink Energies and Resources (60%).
